Media Executive Cautions Against Online Postings
Facebook users have been called to learn how to secure their accounts from those he described as hawkers in the internet industry.
The General Manager, Avi Media Concept, Mr Tunde Godwin, made the call in an interview with newsmen, Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
He based his call on the recent interrogation of the Facebook founder, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg, by the united States Senate, who admitted that the platform needed a more secure system to prevent more attack on data belonging to members.
Godwin, stressed that until Nigerians train themselves on data security, the needed change may not be recorded.
He also cautioned against items posted online, and added that sensitive materials ought to be protected from the public.
According to him, most details of all facebook users are online, thus the need to avoid lodging private/sensitive information online.
He blamed most of the internet fraud on facebook users who uploaded all important details about themselves on the platform.
The media executive, who described facebook as more than web application, said that the platform represented the evolution of normal social life and culture to a digital system.
He also advised the facebook producer to site through contents, especially those in languages other than English.
To have a reliable platform, he further suggested for the introduction of artificial intelligence tools to better monitor advertisement and available apps on the system.
It would be recalled that personal information was obtained from Facebook by Cambridge Analytica, a political consultancy that used the information in Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016.
