NCC Set To Globalise Broad Band Internet Campaign
The Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Mr Tony Ojibo, has revealed the commission’s readiness to gloablise the nation’s broad band internet campaign.
The Tide source gathered that the NCC’s boss spoke when he was hinting on plans to participate in the 2017 International Tele-Communication Union (ITU) in Lagos, Monday.
Ojibo noted that the country’s involvement in the ITU event would major on increasing its growing broad band segment of the market.
According to him, there is a huge communications sector with active connected subscribers in Nigeria.
The Tide gathered that the active subscribers in Nigeria at present was up to 150 million and about 110 per cent tele-density.
He revealed that the agency was hopeful about the possibility of more efforts to deploy to area of broad band penetration enhancement.
The NCC’s image maker further hinted that the National Broad band Plan (NBP) 2013-2018, was prepared to attain 30 per cent broad band penetration.
It was further gathered that, the broad band penetration now stood at about an average of 21 per cent in attempts to achieve its full potential.
The Tide source also hinted that the ITU event would hold in Busan, in South Korea between September 25-28, 2017.
Ojobo maintained that the event which was of a global standard, would be a take-off ground for industry stakeholders and operators who would act as delegates.
Meanwhile, some subscribers in Port Harcourt have appealed to the NCC to ensure that the benefit of the event was impacted on them upon their return from South Korea.
