Chinese Telecom Firm Defends Expatriate Quota Record
ZTE Corporation has said that it has not violated its expatriate quota limits in Nigeria.
The company’s Head of Administration in Nigeria, Yawei Yang, told The Tide source in Lagos recently that the company was still committed in investing in the country’s economy despite its recent economic situation.
Yang admitted that its china staff visit Nigeria on what she called Business visa as a way of bracing group for discussions with telecommunication operators.
She explained that such moves enable the company to have good business prospects in the Federation.
The ZTE official was responding to the speculation that her firm was flouting Nigeria’s expatriate quota limit as provided by law.
The Tide was told that ZTE was one of the top multinational Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution service providers around the globe.
She further informed that the ICT company has always lived beyond expectation on isues touching on pensions, taxes as well as laws in its host country.
She lamented with bitterness the economic tension rocking Nigeria, pointing out that it had led to redundancy of some Nigerian and Chinese workers in its employ.
Expressing hope in the resilience of the country, she said that her company would continue to do its bit until there is a boom in the country’s telecommunication industry.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have insisted that the Chinese firm was not sincere about its claims in the expatriate quota limit as many foreigners still occupy choice positions in the company.
