CRSG To Complete In -Door Sports Hall
The Cross River State Government has restated its resolve to complete ongoing works of the indoor Sports Hall of the Brig. U. J. Esuene stadium in spite of the hiccup occasioned by the collapsed of a section of the building.
The Commissioner for Special Projectes, Victor Agwu, who stated the Government’s intention while on an on – the spot assessment of the extent of damage to the section of the Hall, maintained that his ministry would liaise with relevant Professionals to investigate the curse of the collapse building, adding that appropriate sanctions would be meted out to those concern while critical recommendations would be implemented to forestall a recurrence
The commissioner described the incidence as “very unfortunate” especially as it came at a time of economic recession, emphasizing that resources should not be wasted in such a manner due to negligence and incompetence.
Also speaking while conducting the Commissioner round the sports facility, the Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Orok Otu Duke thanked God for the timely intervention, pointing out that the incident occurred at a time when the children competition taken place in the stadium was suspended for the Easter holidays.
Mr. Duke said the outcome would have being deadly if the competition was ongoing at the time of the collapse and became the crashed section of the building on the use of sub-standard materials by the contractor handling the project.
