RSUST VC Cautions Against Exams’ Results Delay …Erring Lecturers To Face Sanction
Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Prof. Blessing Chimezie Didia, has stated that no student’s result in the institution will be unduly delayed by lecturers.
This, he said, is part of measures put in place by the management of the university in its bid to check issues that make students to over stay in the university.
According to the Vice Chancellor, any lecturer that delays students results unduly will be punished in accordance with the laws of the university.
“Senate as the harbinger of all academic policies has put in place measures to ensure that impediments that make students over stay in the university are removed.
“I can assure you that we shall strictly follow the university time-table and promptly release all results as at when due.
“Senate has further directed that any lecturer who unduly delays students’ results will be punished according to the university laws”, he said.
Prof Didia, who was addressing matriculation students of the university at its 35th matriculation ceremony, assured the new in-takes of his commitment “to religiously implement the Senate’s decision”.
He, however, charged the students to take their studies seriously, noting that there are stipulated periods of graduation for various courses.
“There are defined durations for each course, which are, four- years programmes for a maximum period of six years, or five-years programmes for a maximum period of seven-years.
“It is the wish of the university that you strive to graduate within the available period of the duration of your courses”, Prof. Didia said.
The Vice Chancellor also urged the students to abide by the rules of the university as stipulated in the “students’ hand book” and to avoid all forms of examination misconduct and membership of cult.
“You must shun membership of any clandestine organisations or secret cult activities, as the Senate of this university will not fail to expel all bad students from the university system.”
