NMC Committed To High Level Manpower Statistics Dev
The National Mathemati

The Director of the centre, Prof. Adewale Solarin, said this at the closing ceremony of a one week workshop on “Fundamental Statistical Skills for Postgraduate Research’’ in Abuja, a statement said.
The statement was signed by the centre’s Head of Information, Mr Onyekachi Njoku and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
“Statistics is relevant in all courses and endeavours and I urge the participants to apply what they have gained from the workshop in their respective careers,’’ Solarin was quoted as saying.
Solarin said that the centre was ready to collaborate with other agencies to develop appropriate statistics manpower.
The statement also quoted the Coordinator, Statistics Programme of the Centre, Prof. Funmilayo Saporu, as saying that the workshop was organised to improve the knowledge of participants in the area of research.
“All programmes and levels of government need statistics for planning and development ; without accurate data, planning and development would not be possible,’’ the statement said.
It further said that some of the participants commended the centre for organising the workshop and suggested that such workshops be organised regularly, to update the knowledge of researchers.
