JAMB Tasks Corporate Bodies, Bizmen On CBT Centres
The Joint Admissions
and Matriculation Board says corporate organisations and individuals should invest in the provision of ICT in schools to promote e-learning platform in the country.
A Director of the board, Alhaji Kamaldeen Oladeji, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, recently.
According to him, it is more profitable to have the facility in learning environments at all levels of education to enhance ICT skills in students.
“We want to call on individuals and corporate bodies to join hands with government to establish ICT centres in all our schools — secondary schools, universities, polytechnics and monotechnics.
“This can be achieved as a form of Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement that will allow for a perpetual utilisation of the facilities for teaching, learning and research.
“It will also assist in facilitating computer- based mode of examinations for the various exam bodies as well as increase the ICT knowledge of the candidates,” he said.
Oladeji said JAMB in collaboration with some states had succeeded in establishing such centres for the successful conduct of its first-ever Computer-Based Tests.
He explained that in establishing such centres a minimum of 250 functional desktop computer systems or laptops with 25 backups should be considered.
According to him, small spaces with a minimum length of 26 inches and comfortable seat for each system should be provided by private businessmen to complement government’s effort.
Oladeji suggested a backup for power supply for a centre with at least 250 workstations.
