2015 Women’s B’ball: Coach Confident Of Team’s Progress
Coach Ogaba Abraham of
the IGP Queens of Lagos has said that his team has the capacity to go far in the ongoing 2015 Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball Championships playoffs.
IGP Queens of Lagos began their tournament on a good note as they beat city rivals Nigeria Customs 60-55, in their opening game of the women championship.
The championship dunked off in July 19 in Lagos with the traditional eight teams competing for the season’s title.
An elated Abraham told newsmen that his team deserved the credit having put up a good fight to defeat their rival team and record valuable winning points.
“My girls played to instructions and never disappointed at any point in the game.
“Being our first game and beating our closest rival was a great moral booster for us as a team; however, there is still much to be done.
“We will take one game at a time and focus on working hard, so as to be able to go far in the competition,’’ Abraham said.
His opposite number, Coach Scot Nnaji of the Nigeria Customs, said that his team had the capacity to bounce back from the loss, stressing that he was not in any way disappointed at their loss.
“We will surely bounce back from the loss. It was a close game, and perhaps, the fact that we picked up very late into the game probably caused our loss.
“We will surely address the situation as the competition progresses,’’ Nnaji said.
IGP Queens’ Christiana Isaac opened scoring for her team, churning in 25 points in 35 minutes to secure their victory.
