Lawmaker Empowers Rumuwoji Women
The Federal Lawmaker
representing Port Harcourt Constituency 1 in the National Assembly, Hon. (Mrs) Blessing Nsiegbe has donated N5 million to the Rumuwoji Women Association for the empowerment of one hundred of its members.
Presenting a cheque of N50,000 each to members of the Association at a ceremony in Port Harcourt, Hon. (Mrs) Nsiegbe said that the programme was in fulfilment of her promise to economically empower the women.
She said that as a member of the Association, her office had designed a programme to improve the economic conditions of the women not only in the community, but across the constituency.
The lawmaker said that, the gesture would go a long way to improve the economic conditions of the community and urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the money was effectively utilized for the expansion of their businesses.
Nsiegbe also condoled with the group over the loss of one of its members and prayed for the repose of her soul.
Also speaking, the Chairperson of the Assocation, Mrs Esther Chidi Wuche, described the programme as unique and exemplary, stressing that it is first of its kind in the community.
Mrs Wuche said that Hon. (Mrs) Nsiegbe had laid a solid foundation for the economic prosperity of the women and Rumuwoji Community in general, stressing that the beneficiaries would use the money to expand their business.
Also speaking, a beneficiary, Mrs Celine Dike Nchele said that the money would help her to expand her business and pray God to bless Mrs Nsiegbe for her assistance.
On her part, Mrs Catherine Wigodo said that she was proud of the lawmaker and urged other politicians from the area to come home and help their people.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Blessing Wobo promised to pay her tithe from the money.
