‘Peterside: Best Thing That Happened To Rivers State’
Honourable Asita, deputy
governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has described Dr. Dakuku Peterside, APC governorship standard bearer as the best thing that happened to Rivers State.
Asita who said this at a rally in Port Harcourt, stated that a time comes in the life of a people when public good overrides any other considerations in choosing a leader.
Peterside, he insisted, will bring to government, purposeful leadership, continuity, vision and fear of God, adding that his emergence as a political leader at this time will herald the beginning of a new era.
He called on the people of the state to vote for Peterside because he is a prepared and ready man who is coming to office with a plan. He warned that the office of the governor should not be a platform for vengeance, threats, intimidation and harassment of citizens, adding that it will be tragic for Rivers voters to give any thought to the aspiration of those who are already threatening to expel non indigenes and undermine the gains of the last eight years under the able leadership of Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
“You all know that the battle for the soul of our state today is a battle between light and darkness, so we must approach this election with consciousness, not emotions, because sentiments lead to nowhere.
“One other good thing about this election is that we all know ourselves. We know our background and our antecedents.
anything about it because the people know all of us too well. That is why the voter must evaluate us as individuals not because we belong to parties in Abuja.
“You all know me and my brother Dr. Dakuku Peterside. We are both in the National Assembly making laws for the good of our country and it will interest you to know also that before now, we held positions in our state.
“I trust Dakuku, he is an honest man, that is why I agreed to run with him. You know my name is honourable, I like to live honourably. Dakuku is a man of his words, a youth like you and I am sure we all remember how he brought real change to our roads across the state as Commissioner of Works.
“Therefore, I want to remind you that if you vote for Dakuku, you are voting for yourself. He is the answer to the challenges of Rivers State today. Let me also remind you that if you don’t vote for Buhari, you will be institutionalising corruption, incompetence and you will also be making the poor poorer and the rich richer”.
