Perm Sec Warns Against Absenteeism
The new Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr Sam Woka, has warned civil servants in the ministry against absenteeism, saying that such offence would attract the requisite penalty in line with the civil service rules.
Mr Woka gave the warning on Monday during his maiden visit to Rivers State Newspaper Corporation and Government Printing Press, in Port Harcourt.
According to him, any civil servant found wanting would be sanctioned in accordance with the civil service rules.
Mr Woka said he was disappointed that no staff of Government Printing Press attended the meeting that he convened to rub minds with them on their jobs and directed that the staff be sanctioned for insubordination and absenteeism.
The Perm. Secretary charged civil servants to be punctual and committed to their work, saying that the ministry is prepared to give incentives to the hardworking staff.
The new Permanent Secretary commended staff of RSNC for their impressive attendance and urged them to maintain the decorum.
He also lauded the management of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) for its administrative acumen and re-assured of government’s commitment to reposition the corporation for enhanced service delivery.
In his speech, the General Manager of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo enumerated some problems bedevilling the corporation and commended the state government for providing the multi-million naira rotary machine and other sundry assistance.
