NIPOST Set To Create 3,000 Jobs, Dec
The Post Master General of
the Federation Mallam Ibrahim Mosi Baba has revealed that the Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST) is set to create 3,000 jobs before the year runs out.
He said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of a two day summit on implementing stamping protocol in Nigeria.
Baba, hinted that the jobs would be created in conjunction with ten private companies adding that they have mapped out strategies to widen the scope and coverage of all sectors of the economy.
He explained that such strategies would be geared towards achieving effective implementation of the stamp duty Act.
The NIPOST boss, lamented over what he described as lackluster implementation of stamping protocol in the country by Government agencies and parastatals.
He also did not exclude the private sector hinting that the country is losing millions of naira in revenue to the development on daily basis.
Baba said there is the need for government agencies as well as the private sector to key into the implementation of the stamp duty Act without hesitation.
According to him, since the country must attain a particular height economically, it must not only depend on revenue from the oil sector alone.
He told the gathering that states like Jigawa and Osun have approved the full compliance with the Act by its ministries and agencies, while calling on others to embrace the system.
Meanwhile, one of NIPOSTs consultants Mr Christopher MUO, has said that there is need for synergy at all levels and tiers of government.
Earlier, NIPOST stakeholders had called on the post Master General , to follow the Federal character principle and ensure that the 3,000 jobs cut across the six geo-political zone of the country.
