LG Boss Cautions Against Indiscriminate Refuse Disposal

mittee Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Council, Hon. David Onyegorom has warned residents of Oyigbo town and environs against the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the area.
Speaking at a sensitis-ation programme in the area, Mr. Onyegorom described as unacceptable, the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the area by residents, stressing that this ugly situation has made Oyigbo the dirtiest local Government Area in the state.
The Council Chairman also said that the situation has put a strain on the Council finances as huge sums of money are being spent to keep the area clean.
He further urged the people to ensure a clean environment to avoid the outbreak of epidemic and other diseases in the area.
According to him, this is the time to maintain a clean environment to avoid the outbreak of Ebola virus which he described as very deadly.
The council chairman also told the people that the Council will put in place strategies that will ensure that residents maintain a friendly environment.
In their different speeches, some residents of the area urged for the provision of dump sites for refuse disposals. They also urged for the provision of pay-loaders for evacuation of wastes during environmental sanitation exercises.
