NCS Introduces Online Information Portal
The Nigeria Customs
Service (NCS) has established an information portal capable of giving stakeholders in the industry daily report on activities of the command.
The image maker, NCS, Mr Emmanuel Ekpa, made this disclosure in a chat with The Tide last Wednesday, in Lagos.
He said that the scheme would promptly disseminate information to the public and the media in an effort to project the service in a better mode.
Ekpa also informed that the Controller-General of NCS, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko and another arrow head in the service, Comptroller Charles Edike motivated him to develop the new site through training and re-training programme of officers.
According to him, the system, would aid newsmen and others to gather information about the command as well as its latest update.
He regretted that fraudsters had of late, learnt how to feed the members of the public with native information about custom’s activities, thus, the need for the new site.
Dikko also reasoned that the first website created by the service, would not only solve all the problems associated with mis-information, but would create a transparent window in the system.
The Chief Superintendent of Customs listed the issue of auction of vehicles on social media as one of the negative reports on the NCS, saying that it was unhealthy.
Furthermore, he said that his initiative was part of the three-day intensive workshop on ICT in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, recently where he said they were groomed on the importance of how to be acquainted with happenings around the globe.
He hinted that social media was significant for any organisation that wants to forge ahead, adding that the NCS must not be left out.
Meanwhile, Dikko said that the service was playing on how to also use the facility to report its revenue collections on daily basis.
