15 Students Get Scholarship Award
Fifteen Students have
emerged winners of the recent Group Captain John Ibiwari Ben Kalio’s (rtd) sponsored essay competition for the award of scholarship to indigent students in senior secondary schools in Ogu/Bolo and Okrika Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
Speaking at the occasion, the president of Green Leaf Project, organisers of the competition, Mr Clement Minikwu said the competition which is an annual event is open for students schooling in Wakirike communities irrespective of ethnic differences.
The essay competition which took place at the Community Secondary School Kalio-Ama in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State with the topic “Leadership and Good Governance’, Challenges for Sustainable Development in Nigeria” had over 40 students in attendance.
Mr Clement Minikwu explained that the scholarship award was part of Captain Ben Kalio’s effort towards the overall educational development of the Wakirike ethnic nationality and added that each of the successful students would receive the sum of N15,000 in cash and other consolation prizes.
The students who emerged winners of the scholarship were Okezie Fortune, King’s College Okochiri, Ogba God’s Favour K, Community Secondary School, Abuloma, Ataisi B Israel, Comprehensive Secondary School, Ibaka, Olajide Alex, Community Secondary School, Amadi-Ama and Igwama Tamunobarafiri, Comprehensive Secondary School, Ibaka.
Others include, Love Immanuela, Obiye Academy Secondary School; Dikeh Confidence, Excel Comprehensive College, Okrika; Tamunobelema Henderson N, Immanuel Inter School, Abuloma; Ibitamuno Lawrence, Obiye Academy Secondary School and Daniel A.O. Tamuno, Government Secondary School, Ogu.
Also, winners of the scholarship are: Eretoru Eunice Bapakaye, Immanuel International School; Joseph Julius, Community Secondary School, Ogan-Ama, Abang Blessing, Excel Comprehensive College, Ahiwe Margaret Chioma, Immaunel International School; and Amieoku Lucky, Government Secondary School, Ogu.
Responding on behalf of the winners, Mr Okezie Fortune, who came first, thanked the organisers for the opportunity given them and prayed God to continue to bless them in all their endeavours.
