Rivers Angels Maul Visiting Angels 4-0

Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt yesterday at the main bowl of Liberation Stadium, bounced back from their last week’s loss to Sunshine Queens of Akure in the 2013 Professional Women Football League to trash visiting C. I. Angels of Agbor 4-0.

It was one of the Week 13 fixtures played in Group B of the league across the country.

The match which was witnessed by some sponsors of the hosts saw the Angels raise their game against the visitors.

The first half of the match was a ding dong affair for both sides until the 40th minute, when the Angels’ Glory Iroka scored the opening goal of the match.

Both sides made serious efforts to score goals before the break but failed to change the score-line.

On resumption, the game continued on a high tempo, as the hosts and their Delta State opponents made frantic moves to add to the score board, but failed to convert their opportunities to goals.

However, Rivers Angels’ second goal came at the 75th minute via Amanze Aiobhewi, who added the third 10 minutes later.

Mercy Amanze registered the fourth goal in the 89th minute ending the game 4-0 in favour of the hosts.

With this result, the Angels are now leading their group (Group B) with 28 points from 13 matches played so far in the league.
