NGO Charges Youths On ICT Skills
Young people have been charged to avail themselves of the opportunity to be trained in some skills, especially those that have something to do with the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
This was the view of the Business Director, Entrepreneurial Development Initiative (ENDIP), Mr Ben Ovio, at the 2013 Child and Youth Finance International Day at the British Council in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
He said rather than indulge in some worthless practices, young people could deliver the world from its present challenges if they could bend low and think positively.
Ovio, recalled how a co-inventor of a popular social media (face book), Mr Mark Zuckerberg, had touched many lives through his role in the discovery of face book.
According to him, only those with skills can build the world, while stressing the need for young people to learn a skill.
He pointed out that the NGO which was founded in the Netherlands, would ensure the growth of the global movement through creating linkages, knowledge-sharing as well as sharing of innovations among network partners.
The grassroots mobiliser said it was also targeting about 10,000 students who will be entrepreneurial leaders in the country with industry relevant skills.
He also said that they were hungry and committed to increasing the life opportunities of students and as well, improve their employability in line with the vision 20:2020.
Furthermore, he explained that his team cultured the youth on how to positively handle finance with special attention on financial literacy.
