Katsina Awards N964.3m Contract For ICT Institute
The Katsina State Government has awarded N964.3 million contract for the construction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Business Institute in Katsina. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Science and Technology, Alhaji Sule Kuki, signed the contract on behalf of the State Government in Katsina on Monday.
He said the first phase for the project was awarded to Messrs Zeen Engineering Ltd. with a completion period of 12 months. According to him, the first phase of the project comprised construction of administrative block, four storey-building classrooms, four workshops and an e-library.
He, however, said the second phase of the project, which involved construction of auditorium, cafeteria, students’ hostels, staff quarters and mosque among other facilities, would come in due course. Kuki said: “the institute is envisaged to qualify for accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) when completed.
“It will, therefore, offer training in certificates, diplomas and degree courses for the state indigenes and Nigerians at large.” He said the state department of Science and Technology was in contact with the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and some development partners for the opening of the institute.
He named the partners as Bill Gates Foundation and Informatics Institutes of Kazaure, Jigawa and Kano, respectively. He urged the contractor to ensure quality work as well as to complete the project as agreed in the contract.
Mr Abbas Naseerelddin, who signed the contract on behalf of the construction firm, assured quality work and promised to complete the project on schedule.
