Commissioner Charges Committee Members On Emergency Response
Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Emeka Nwogu, has charged the newly inaugurated Adhoc Committee on Inter-Agency Co-operation on Emergency Preparedness and Response to be committed in the discharge of their assignment and also design an appropriate framework for emergency preparedness and reduction in Rivers State.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Chief Nwogu said, the committee would provide a proactive platform in combating fire and emergency/disaster Management in the State, and called for government/private collaboration to ensure the success of safety and emergency management in Rivers State.
He reiterated the ministry’s determination to build a strong institution that would stand the test of time and appealed to the various Committees chairmen to meet regularly to facilitate the submission of their work.
The commissioner said that emergencies and security could not be left for government alone, and therefore urged all stakeholders particularly, multinational companies to contribute their quota, both in human and material resources towards achieving the desired goal of a comprehensive and effective fire and emergency/disaster control in the State.
