RSUST Is Foremost E-varsity In Nigeria
The Rivers State University of Science and
Technology (RSUST) has been described as the foremost electronic powered
university in the country.
Prof. Barineme Fakae, the Vice Chancellor
of RSUST, said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Fakae said that part of the success story
was the introduction of electronically developed, ingenious programmes to
reduce examination malpractice in the institution.
He said the programmes had afforded
students the opportunity of seeing their examination results before leaving the
examination hall.
According to Fakae, this has not only
improved the quality of graduates of the Institution but also reduced the
incidence of examination malpractice in the university.
He said the university was the first in the
Niger Delta region to instal a Wi-Fi technology that had afforded students and
staff fast internet access throughout the campus.
Fakae said that through the university’s
electronic advancement programmes, students and staff information were placed
online and could be assessed by all concerned.
“Our modest achievements in having 10 years
result online, access to graduation status as well as running all key processes
online have brought about academic orderliness in the university.”
