Man, 28, Docked Over Theft Of Laptop
The police on Tuesday arraigned Chukwudi Nwankwo, 28, before
an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, charged with stealing a laptop
computer and a mobile phone, both worth N270,000.
The accused, of no fixed address, however, pleaded not
guilty.
The prosecutor, Cpl. John Iberedem, said that the alleged
theft took place at a shop in Odun Ade Market, Alaba-Oro, Lagos, on March 29.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, was punishable
under Section 306 (2) of Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State 2011.
Chief Magistrate E.A. Ogundare granted the accused bail in
the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He said that the surety “should show proof of evidence of
tax payment to Lagos State Government” and adjourned further hearing in the
case till May 18.
