Song Outlines Creed, Mission Statement For Cameroun
Rigobert Song has begun his job as Cameroon’s team manager by introducing a creed for both players and officials.
The former captain was appointed on 6 January, with the intention of bringing stability to the national team.
In his first outing in Guinea-Bissau, he convinced coach Denis Lavagne and his squad to adhere to an 11-point plan, which starts by stating that ‘the Cameroon national team is sacred’.
All players and officials signed the document last week in Guinea-Bissau.
Cameroon won the first leg of their first round 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier later that day, winning 1-0 thanks to a late strike from Eric Choupo-Moting.
The intention of the two-time Nations Cup champion is that every new player in the team will sign up to a creed which stresses, among others, the need for communication, humility and loyalty.
Cameroon’s international team has been rocked in recent years, with the Indomitable Lions conspicuously absent from this year’s African Cup of Nations after their failure to qualify.
Late last year, a friendly against Algeria had to be called off at short notice after the players conducted a strike over money issues – an incident which led to an eight-month ban for captain Samuel Eto’o.
These issues have combined to leave Cameroon in 66th place in the Fifa rating system, which is the Indomitable Lions’ worst ranking ever.
As he looks to address this slump, Song’s 11-point mission statement reads as follows:
1.The Cameroon national team is sacred, serving it is my only goal
2. The green-red-yellow is sacred, I shall wear it in every stadium, honour and defend it
3.Playing for my country is an honour, with loyalty, fidelity and courage I shall represent it
4. Each match and each selection is goodness shared with my people, my public and mates
5. With my team-mates I shall be strong, with friendship and solidarity my watchword
6.Respect for elders is a principle, from them I inherit this jersey, illustrious they handed it to me and glorious I will pass it on
7. I shall communicate with my coaches, comrades and officials, dialogue shall remain my strength.

PH To Host 2026 NWFL Super Six
In a statement released by the league, the competition is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, with six clubs set to battle for the league title at the end of the 2025/26 season.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the choice of Port Harcourt reflects the Rivers State Government’s continued support for women’s football and its successful hosting of the league’s Annual General Assembly last year.
The Super Six tournament will feature the top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season competing in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches over nine days.
Qualified teams for the competition include defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.
The NWFL Premiership has produced four different winners in the last five editions, with Rivers Angels winning in 2021, Bayelsa Queens claiming the title in 2022 and 2025, Delta Queens triumphing in 2023, and Edo Queens emerging champions in 2024.
The league also urged participating clubs to comply with all competition regulations and directives ahead of the championship. The Super Six will determine Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and ultimately the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Teams are expected to arrive on Friday, June 5, when the draw ceremony and pre-match meeting will also take place. Matchdays are scheduled for June 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14, with rest days in between before the tournament concludes with the trophy presentation ceremony.
