Mbu Promises Free Education In C’River
Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Governorship candidate in Cross River State, Senator Mathew Mbu (jnr.) has promised to provide free and compulsory education from primary to secondary school level in the state, if elected as Governor of the State come April this year.
Senator Mbu, who stated this in a chat with Correspondents in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, noted that this is is part of his plans for the people of the state ahead of the April Governorship elections in the state.
Mbu, who represented the Cross River State Central from 1999-2003 in the Senate, said if given the opportunity, education will be one of his four point agenda to move the state to the next level.
“Definitely education is going to be my priority. My priority is not going to be more than four areas, we will talk about good roads, we will talk about health, we will talk about education, and then a viable industrialization of the state,” he said.
He noted the state is blessed with abundant resources that could put it in the list of industrial giants and project a sound economy for the state among other states in the country.
Unfortunately, Mbu said, “the PDP Government has failed to harness these resources and has rather chose to depend absolutely on allocation from the Federation Account for its development aspirations, which are at the lowest ebb compared to what obtains in other states of the country.”
While promising that his administration would industrialize the State in order to create economic boom and provide employment to the teaming unemployed youths, he emphasised his zeal to effect a change.
“I am here for change, It is mass movement for the liberation of our people and to make Cross River a model to the rest of the country
“There is so much unemployment, government hospitals are completely down, so also the agriculture system, our roads are completely bad, the people are being impoverished,” he noted.
