Delta Approves N2bn For Ashaka/Ushie/Aradhe Road
The Delta State Government has approved more than N2 billion for the construction of the Ashaka/Ushie/Aradhe road and others to open up the rural communities.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Richard Mofe-Damijo, disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba.
The commissioner said Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan gave approval for the construction of the road because it was part of the infrastructure development agenda of his administration.
Mofe-Damijo said the Olomoro/Igbide/Ovwodokpoko road would also be re-constructed at N317.5 million.
The commissioner assured the people that when completed, the roads would open up the rural communities and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce to the cities.
Accordingly, the executive council has approved a sum of N290 million for the Free Maternal Health programme of the state government.
Mofe-Damijo said the take over of the Olomoro community health centre by the state government had been approved by the state executive council.
The commissioner said that the council also approved the setting aside of the sum of N453 million for the parking lots at the Event Centres in Warri and Asaba.
According to him, a sum of N178 million has been approved as counterpart funding for climate change as well as payment of examination fees for candidates in primary and post-primary schools.
Mofe-Damijo said the council also approved N177 million for payment of salaries and allowances to players and officials of Warri Wolves Football Club.
