Benin Aiport: FG To Address Run-way Crack
The Federal Government has raised alarm over the bad condition of the Benin Airport, stating that the run-way has crack on it.
The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Babatunde Omotoba who raised the alarm shortly after inspecting facilities at the Benin Airport said the crack spotted on the run-way would be dangerous called for immediate measures to be taken immediately.
Mr. Omotoba reiterated government measures to improve facilities of the four major airports which includes, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano, saying moves are on the way to make them among the best and International standard.
He noted that very soon, massive constructions on renovation and expansion would be on in some of the four major airports in the country.
The Tide was informed that recently the contract for the expansion of the upon has been awarded.
The expansion, according to the Regional Manager Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Mr. Uche Nwangwuma, said the expansion would attract more International aircraft to the airport.
He also disclosed that plans has been concluded to temporary expand the International Wings of the airport to accommodate more passengers and International operations.
The Regional Manager who spoke during a coketail party ogranised by Lufthansa Airline said The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is ready to partner any airlines for effective operations.
