Mpi Woos Investors To Rivers
The Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Information, Dr. Godwin Mpi, has called on fleeing investors to return to the state, because the present administration, led by Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has ensured the return of peace to the state.
Dr. Mpi made the call recently during an interactive session with the executive members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Emphasising the need for investors to return to the state, Dr. Mpi urged the NIPR members to support the state government and stressed that the state will not use propaganda to correct its image, but that the truth is that there is peace in Rivers State.
The Permanent Secretary however assured the members of NIPR that the Ministry will partner with them in the business of correcting the wrong perception people have about Rivers State outside the state.
Speaking on getting a permanent secretariat for the group, he advised them to write a formal letter to the state government, adding that the governor is a man that appreciates the importance of public relations and would be willing to consider their request to have a permanent secretariat.
The permanent secretary also assured the group that he would encourage information officers of the Ministry to enrol in NIPR courses, which would help to broaden their knowledge and skill.
In an earlier address read by the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Karibi George, the group stated their desire to partner with the state government in projecting its developmental activities and to correct the investors-scare perception people have about the state.
He appealed to the permanent secretary to encourage information officers of the Ministry to enroll in NIPR courses, which he hoped would make them better information managers.
The Chairman also appealed to the Administrative Head of the Ministry, to assist them in their bid to acquire a permanent secretariat for the association.
