Institute Seeks Revitalisation Of Survey Online Platform
The revitalisation of the survey online platform, mysurveyplan. com. has been pencilled as part of solutions to the challenges facing surveyors’ practice in Rivers State.
This was the view of the state Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Surveyors (NIS), Surveyor Chukwudi Ezi, when he paid a visit to the Surveyour-General of the state’s office last week in Port Harcourt.
He said that since most activities of every profession has now gone digital, the revitalisation of its portal platform would be of great importance.
Ezi said that manual practice was gradually being phased out in every profession, adding that surveyors must not be left behind.
The surveyor, also hinted that the introduction of customised plan-printing format would be key in boosting the image of the profession.
According to him, such customised paper would help to expose quacks in the system.
He further listed what he stated as prompt production of Certificate Deposits (CoDs), as another way out in the challenges facing his group in the state.
The Rivers NIS boss, who also sought for media partnership, said that effective publicity of the profession/institution would among other things, bring about a positive change in survey practice in the state and beyond.
Other solutions to the system, he stated, included website design and institution of awards for best graduating surveying and geo-informatics students in higher institutions in the state.
Also speaking, the Surveyor-General of the state and Permanent Secretary, Surv. Noel Elenwo, has called on surveyors to always liaise with the Surveyors’ Council of Nigeria as its regulatory body.
He reasoned that all their plans, programmes could be met, if they work in synergy with the council.
In his contribution, the Publicity Secretary of the body, Surv. Godwill Pepple, thanked their host and assured him of the group’s preparedness to work with his office in plans to digitalise the operations of the association.
