Red Cross Honours VC With Life Membership
The Red Cross Society, Ikwerre Division has made Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University (RSU), Prof Blessing Didia, a life member of the body.
Speaking during the investiture of the VC recently, Chairman of the Nigeria Red Cross Society, Ikwerre Division, Nathaniel Moses, said the Vice Chancellor was given a life membership status in recognition of his contributions to the body.
“You are made life member in appreciation of your giant contributions and sacrifice towards the growth of Red Cross in the Division and the state at large”, he said.
Mr Moses lauded what he called the VC’s “passion for humanitarian services and for investing in the Red Cross where he served as state chairman of the body”.
While thanking the Red Cross for the honour done him, in his acceptance speech, the VC noted that it would spur him to “do more for the body and mankind”.
He used the opportunity to urge both members and intending members to be “focused and imbibe the spirit of humanitarianism as volunteers”.
In their separate speeches, Registrar of the University, Mrs Daba Odimabo and Provost, College of Medical Sciences, Prof Raphael Oruambo, thanked the Red Cross for the honour bestowed on the VC.
Highlight of the occasion was an inspection of guard of honour mounted by members of Ikwerre Division of the Nigeria Red Cross Society done by the VC.
