Rivers East Students Endorse Sekibo
Students of Ikwerre, Etche,
and Wakirike ethnic nationalities in higher institutions have endorsed former Senator Thompson George Sekibo for re-election into the Senate in the forthcoming March 19th 2016 rerun election in Rivers State.
The students gave the endorsement during a solidarity visit to Senator Sekibo who is seeking to represent Rivers East Senatorial District.
In their separate speeches, the Presidents of the groups, Comrade Anele Christian of Ikwerre, Comrade Eleazu Godspower of Etche and Comrade Tamunobelema George, said they were satisfied with the performance of the Senator especially his good representation in the Senate and his programme for students and assured him of their total commitment towards his re-election in the forthcoming re-run election.
Comrade Christian commended the Senator’s contributions, saying his efforts have attracted so many social amenities to the senatorial District.
“You should not be afraid because we in our large numbers are solidly behind you. We ask that you continue to carry us along in your scheme of things”, he said.
In his own submission, Comrade Godspower, said in the history of the senatorial district, Sekibo remains unbeatable in terms of students welfare and promised to give him support in his re-election.
“We, Etche students, will not only vote for you massively on March 19th, but we shall mobilize enmass, our parents, friends and other eligible voters for you because you remain the best amongst the candidates for the position”, he stated.
Comrade Tamunobelema George also commended Senator Sekibo for his developmental programmes, saying although as watch dogs, we (students) are not supposed to be partisan, but your antecedent speaks well for you. Students being the largest in the society, we shall be behind you because of your developmental stride”.
In his response, Senator Sekibo thanked the students for their visit to him and reassured them that he would not only continue to give education top priority, but would redouble his efforts because of the high premium attached to education sector in the modern world.
“Be our evangelist be our vanguards, and mobilize as many as you can including not just our students but our parents” he said.
He however, advised the students to be guided by the rules of election saying “ I wont advise you to snatch ballot boxes, be sure your names are in the voters register even though we are using the card reader”.
Sekibo pledged to sustain his students-friends disposition and pleaded with the students to vote for him and all other PDP candidates in the forthcoming rerun elections in the state.
