Security: MTN Donates Five SUVs To Bayelsa Govt
Gvernor Seriake
Dickson of Bayelsa on Monday said the state government was ready to fight insecurity to accelerate development in the state.
Dickson stated this while receiving five security patrol vehicles donated to the state government by MTN Foundation in Yenagoa.
Represented by his Deputy, Real Adm. John Jonah (rtd), Dickson said insecurity was a bane to development.
He said that improving the security lives of citizens would go a long way to achieve the desired change.
The governor urged private and public organisations to partner with the state government to enhance security in the state.
He thanked the telecommunication company for the gesture, which he said, would improve the security situation in the state.
Dickson said the state government would not relent on its effort to ensure zero tolerance to crime.
Handing over the keys of the vehicles to the governor, the MTN Nigeria acting Senior Manager Sales, Eastern Region, Mr Onamari Horsfall, said the vehicles were to support the government in its security operations.
He described security as everybody’s business, saying: “We are here to present five Hilux Toyota Jeeps as our little contribution to improve the security of the people here in Bayelsa.
“We hand over this five fully-equipped and branded security patrol vehicles to the government as part of the MTN Foundation’s Security Project (MTN-SSP).
“You will all agree that security to lives and property is critical to the growth and development of states; so, security should not be left for government alone.’’
Horsfall said the foundation has provided 60 fully-equipped security patrol vehicles with communication gadgets to 11 states in the federation.
The benefiting states, according to him, include the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, Ogun, Delta, Imo, Plateau, Oyo states, among others.
