Google Talent Hunt: Three Journalists Emerge Winners
Three Lagos-based
journalists, Miss Oluyinka Fadare, Remmy Nweke and Emmanuel Okukwe, have emerged the winners of Google Nigeria talent hunt in journalists’ proficiency in “Google Maps for Mobile.’’
The Tide reports that Fadare, Nweke and Okukwe work with NAN, Digital Sense publications and Daily Independent Newspapers, respectively.
Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google Communication and Public Affairs Manager, on Thursday in Lagos presented the winners with Samsung Galaxy Ipad.
Kola-Ogunlade described the Google Maps for Mobile as a smart phone device for navigating unfamiliar terrains when driving or walking.
He said that the device, which had just been launched in Nigeria, had been operational in some other countries for years.
Kola-Ogunlade said that the product had advanced features which included all the features of a GPS and much more.
Some features of the device, which can be used to navigate within and outside Lagos State, include voice navigation.
The talent hunt involved the use of the map to navigate to five different locations in Victoria Island, Lagos.
