LG To Demolish Illegal Structures
The Ahoada East Local Government Council has given a seven day ultimatum to owners of temporary structures including caravans, kerosene tanks scattered all over the metropolis and unapproved street naming to revalidate the approvals granted on their development to conform with the planning order of Ahoada.
Handing down the advice in an interview with newsmen in Ahoada over the weekend, the head of department and director of Works in the Council, Mr Gogo Wellington said that at the expiration of the ultimatum, all such temporary structures, owners failed to revalidate or remove, would be declared illegal.
Also speaking on the consequences of the illegal structures, the chief works superintendent in the Council, Chief Umanugbeso Uzuzu said such illegal structures would be removed and demolished at the expense of the owners without further notice at the expiration of the one week ultimatum.
In a related development, the council has approved the naming of new street.
The new street is known as “Obushi” which is along the Abua/Odual road off the East West road. The road was named after a foremost elder statesman of the area, Elder Obushi who died many years ago.
The HOD and Director of Works, Mr Gogo Wellington, who made the announcement said the naming of the street was necessary as a result of the increase in the demand for residential accommodation by the teeming population and the expanding urban centres.
