…As Pensioners Insist On Strike
The Manager, Public Relations, Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST), Port Harcourt Head quarters, Mr Godwin Akpan, has said that NIPOST pensioners have refused to soft pedal on their strike action.
Akpan who spoke with The Tide Tuesday in Port Harcourt, said the pensioners are insisting on their 14 months arrears payment or nothing.
According to him, NIPOST staff as well as its tenants are yet to gain entrance to their offices to perform their legitimate duties due to the actions of the striking pensioners.
He said that negotiations were still on, adding that it may provide lasting solution to the pensioners demand.
Some NIPOST staff who spoke under anonymity, said the management of the federal agency nationwide had not lived up to expectation.
They explained that those at the top prevented most benefits due workers/staff to trickle down, thereby frustrating their efforts.
According to them, NIPOST ought to have been a money spinner but had failed due to what they termed as mis-management.
The Station Road Office of NIPOST in PH as we learnt, is still under the watchful eyes of irate pensioners who have sworn not to depart the place until orders come from its headquarters in Abuja.
The strike has entered its third week this week.
