Council Urges Support For Children’s Moral Upbringing
The Secretary of Education Committee, Kankara Local Government Authority in Katsina State, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar, has called for teachers’ support for parents in efforts at ensuring proper morals for children.
Abubakar, who made the call at the opening of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition for the Funtua Senatorial Zone, also called on parents to closely monitor their wards.
“This will help in ensuring good moral upbringing,’’ he said.
The secretary said the proper upbringing of children was the collective responsibility of teachers, parents and community leaders.
He said the competition was organised in order to inculcate discipline and encourage the youths to yearn for Qur’anic knowledge, which he said was the backbone of Islamic principles.
Abubakar said the benefits in Qur’anic recitations were enormous and called on all categories of people to support initiatives that would promote Islam among children.
Also speaking, Chairman of the competition’s Organising Committee, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isma’il, said students from the zone’s 11 local government areas would compete in various categories of Qur’anic education. “Winners in the council will converge to compete at the state level competition in Katsina, while the overall winners will represent the state at the national level,’’ he said. Our correspondent reports that 18 schools are participating in the competition.
