Auto Crach Claims Two UNIPORT Lecturers
Two lecturers of University of Port Harcourt, have died following a motor accident along Calabar Udukpani road.
The lecturers whose names were given as Dr Obed Ojukwu and Dr Mrs Ekatte Akpan, both of the Department of the Linguistics and Communication Studies, were returning from Calabar, Cross River State, after attending a workshop when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The Tide gathered that the accident also killed a trailer mechanic, who was repairing another trailer along the road.
A lecturer of the institution who pleaded anonymity said they got the information at about 8.00pm from the Federal Road Safety Commission in Cross River State, who called to inform them.
The lecturer explained that the accident was caused by a stationary trailer that was parked on the road, adding that the deceased, were trying to avoid a collusion and suddenly ran into an coming trailer.
The lecturer who described the dead lecturers as brilliant dons, who could go the extra miles to assist students said that their death was a great shock to students and lecturers.
