Rainstorm Destroys Property In Abia
Property worth millions of naira were destroyed in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia following a downpour last Tuesday night.
Reliable sources told our source that the rain came at about 7 p.m. with a strong wind and lasted for about 45 minutes.
According to the report, many residential buildings in the 25 villages of the local government area had their roofs blown off.
Also, no fewer than 20 electric poles were felled by the rain, causing apprehension among the residents as to the possibility of the restoration of power supply in the area in the shortest possible time.
The sources said that Federal Government College, Ebem Ohafia, was also affected and that no fewer than four classroom blocks, staff offices and the Vice Principal’s quarters had their roofs blown off.
The perimeter fence of the school was also affected, a situation which the sources said created a security risk for the students.
Meanwhile, no life was lost in the incident, according to media report.
