Ajuru Varsity Moves To Meet NUC Standard
The authorities of
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, have assured that concerted efforts are being made to meet the standard required by National Universities Commission (NUC) to secure needed accreditations in the institution’s various departments.
Acting Registrar of the University, Barrister Ikem Adiele, gave the assurance in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
Barrister Adiele said that priority attentions were being given to upgrading of the infrastructure in the institution to meet with required NUC standard.
“A new ultramodern library is now in place and in virtually all departments, infrastructure are receiving necessary upgrading, he said.
The acting registrar also disclosed that the university has taken steps to meet the standard workforce as some academic and non- academic staff are undergoing various trainings.
Barrister Adiele, who commented on a recent change that affected deans of three faculties of the institution clarified that the three deans’ removal were not as a result of fraud or incompetency as was being insinuated in some quarters.
“The affected deans have served out their tenure and they were not just being removed but some of them were transferred to other areas.
None of them committed fraud and none was removed as a result of incompetence”, he noted.
He further explained that the change was a normal thing in the institution and urged members of the public to disregard insinuation of fraud or incompetence linked to the change.
He, however, charged staff of the institution to be serious with their official duties as the present administration would not condole any act of indolence or indiscipline especially as it confronts the pressing challenges to meet with NUC’s accreditation standard as a new university.
