RSG Begins Computer Training Soon
Rivers State Government says, it is now set to organise an intensive two weeks computer literacy training on internet and competitive core certification (ICCC).
The Senior Assistance to the governor on Information Communication Technology (ICT) Mr Goodliffe Nmekini said that the course will allow participants the opportunity to acquire skill on information technology that would promote job opportunities.
Nmekini, noted that the gesture was part of the government’s effort to widen the people’s knowledge on ICT.
According to him, the programme, is also part of the government efforts to promote educational policy thrust, and as well as enable residents of the state to be IT literate on standard international training curriculum.
He further revealed that the two-weeks programme would be without charge with an award on internationally recognised certificate administered by CERTIPORT after undergoing an on-line examination.
The Governor’s SA on ICT, also hinted that the forms are already available at the ICT department at the state secretariat complex and at its Aba Road office.
He was of the view that ICT training will also enhance job seekers opportunity and also provide self employment to many in the state.
Some civil servants who spoke to our reporter called on the governor’s SA to make it a weekend programme.
According to them, if it runs within the week only, it may cut off civil servants due to the nature of their job.
They praised the SA over the development, adding that it will afford Rivers people and others, the opportunity to have knowledge on ICT.
