RSU Assures On Security At Satellite Campuses
The management of the Rivers State University (RSU) says it is working with host communities to ensure adequate security at its satellite campuses.
The Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Joseph Onyema, stated this in an interview with newsmen during an orientation programme for the over 820 fresh students at the Emohua campus of the university.
Onyema said the management of the institution is working with the indigenous people to ensure that adequate security is provided for both students and lecturers at the campus.
According to him, a world class police station is under construction at the campus, while entrance to the campus is being manned by trained security experts.
While describing the Emohua campus as a good place for academic activities, Onyema urged the students to make the best use of it by remaining focused all the time.
“This Emohua satellite campus of RSU is good for academic activities. Let the students make maximum use of this place God has given them.
“The students should work very hard and come out in flying colours. In fact, they are expected to make their parents and the university proud”, he said.
He explained that the faculty has four departments, which includes Economic, political science, sociology and psychology with over 820 students.
Also speaking, Head of Department (HOD) Economics, Prof. Dennis Brown Erubare, said his department has over 120 students for the 2022/2023 academic year and stressed the need for the fresh students to put in their best.
“Our fresh students should put in their best in order to have a good grade at the end of their programm”, he urged.
Erubare said the challenges at the new campus is surmountable, adding that what is important is adapting to the place.
“If you move to a new place there will be teething problems. However, what is important is adapting to the new Enviroment”, he said.
Prof. Erubare said the department will continue to thank God for the opportunity, adding that everyone in the department is happy with the new development.
He also urged the students to ensure that they are found fit both in character and learning.
