VC Charges Parents, Lecturers On Students’ Performance
The Vice Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Port Harcourt, Prof. Okechuku Onuchuku, has called on parents to partner with lecturers in achieving a wholesome education of their children.
Making the call recently in Port Harcourt, Onuchuku noted the place of teachers and lecturers in the lives of students but stated that they only stand in “locus parenti” (in place of parents), and cannot replace the biological and foster parents.
He stressed the need for the continued support and close monitoring of the academic and social life of wards (students) by parents to ensure that they are on the right track at all times.
“It is our desire that you continue to support them (students) by promptly paying up all approved charges that would enable the university management give the students the best education available here.
