Community Heads Move Against Media War On OSPAC
The Omerelu apex community union, Association of Omerelu Chairmen ( Onu-Omopi, Ohaneze Omuokpara Oga, Ala Ndi Nma Omuagwor and Omuohombia Element Union), have sternly warned against further media attackS against the community’s OSPAC command.
The group called on those involved in the act to desist forthwith or be prepared to dance an unknown dance.
This was part of the content of a statement issued by the chairmen, Chief Geoffrey Amadi, David Wokeme , Albert Ohakwe and Chief Emmanuel Ibekwe and made available to the media in Port Harcourt yesterday.
They expressed dissatisfaction with the development and sued for calm at all quarters.
According to them, the most disturbing aspect of the report was that it came from an unknown self-styled body known as Omerelu Youth Association.
They however, called on the public to shun any form of transaction with the faceless group to avoid being swindled.
The Omerelu apex group also informed that the community was yet to form a formidable youth body since the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike proscribed all youth associations except those profiled by the development of state security service.
They also called on media operators to be up their game by insisting to unearth the identities of anyone bringing community issues to them.
“We have our internal ways of dispute mechanism. Those who never wanted the light of the community now want to represent darkness”, they said.
They threatened to banish anyone or group found guilty of publishing the Omerelu OSPAC in a bad light.
The statement called on the so-called Omerelu Youth Association to use their youthfulness to defend the community rather than invovling themselves in cheap campaign of calumny and blackmail.
On way forward, they said every hand must be on deck and added that community issues must be left at the purview of the community leaders.
Meanwhile, they have appealed with all military and para-military formations in the state, including the DSS, not to take reports from anyone henceforth unless from the community heads duly signed, as they promised to work with them in order to enthrone peaceful environment.
