Propagate Gospel, Banigo Encourages Women
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says Christian Mothers must continue to propagate the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ as the only beacon of hope for the country.
Banigo stated this during the 2021 Mothering Sunday Celebration and Thanksgiving Service at St Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt, last Sunday.
The deputy governor said as Christian women, Christian mothers and Christian wives, women must continue to be the voice, of peace and to bring unity where ever there is strife.
According to Banigo, the theme for this year’s celebration which is, “Women Awake from Your Slumber” agrees with the Motto of the Mothers Union, drawn from Philippians 4:13, which says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
While encouraging the women further, Banigo said, “women be strengthened, spiritually, physically and emotionally, be strengthened to be able to do exploits in the house of God and the Kingdom of God you have the capacity, in every sphere of life, you can make it I am here just to encourage you”.
The deputy governor, who expressed gratitude to the Mothers Union for conferring the Distinguished Mother of the Year Award on her said, “I want to say that receiving an award such as this from my own women, I am a member of this union, I am a member of this church and to me it is a very coveted conferment. For you to receive conferment from your own sisters and mothers means very much to me and I sincerely thank you for this wonderful award and I believe that God will also honour you, you will receive honour not only from men, you will receive honour from God Almighty”.
Also speaking, the former Deputy Governor of the state, Sir Gabriel Toby, who congratulated Banigo for her service to God and humanity, thanked the Mothers Union of St. Cyprian’s Church for the honour bestowed on Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo.
Earlier, the Guest Preacher, Hon. Justice Silverline Iragunima, who spoke on the theme, “Women Awake from Your Slumber”, taken from Rom.13:11, said the woman who was created to help the man to carry out God’s work.
