Church Donates Land, Seeds To Young Farmers
The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chinyere Chibuzor, has donated 150 plots of land to young farmers in Rivers State.
Chibuzor, while handing over the plots of land last Monday in Aluu community of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, said produce from the farm would help sustain food security efforts in the country.
The General Overseer represented by the Welfare Officer of the church, Moureen Chukwu said the Agriculture programme would also boost the economy of Rivers State and Nigeria in general.
He further said that the farming would ensure a stable livelihood for the farmers, who over the years lack support to engage in meaningful farming in the State.
“We are in the free farms now, the farms that the General Overseer, Apostle Chinyere Chibuzor donated as plant of the Church’s empowerment programme to the less privileged persons to help them in feedings.
“You know the country is in recession and every food item in the market very expensive, so in order to support the feeding of the less privileged persons, we decided to give out the land for free farming to boost foods in the State and Nigeria in general.
The General Overseer said the 150 plots of land are given to the first 150 farmers for a start, saying that in subsequent time the church would donate more plots of land for additional farmers in the State and beyond.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the farming programme commended the General Overseer of the church, Apostle Chinyere Chibuzor, for giving them free land f or farming, saying that the gesture would reduce hardship in their families and in the state.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Owen Nwanosike, who spoke on behalf of the farmers, said the gesture would reduce hardship and poverty amidst the ongoing recession in the country.
He said that Apostle Chibuzor also donated some money for them to purchase crop seeds and cassava stems for planting.
