Student Manufactures Plastic Refrigerator
A student in the
Electrical Engineering Department of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, Jelili Owoyemi, has constructed a plastic refrigerator.
This was disclosed by the project supervisor, Alhaji Suliaman.
Suliaman said that the plastic refrigerator is a device that operates on a vapour operation system which the cooling process starts from the compressor to condenser to expansion and finally to the evaporator before any cooling can take place.
The supervisor pointed out that an average Nigerian can afford to purchase this plastic refrigerator due to its low cost compared to the conventional refrigerator, which usually sells from N30,000
Speaking further on this innovation, Mr Lawal Kazim, who is the project coordinator said that considering the fact that the conventional refrigerator is very big and weighty in nature, the idea behind the plastic refrigerator is to have something smaller and lighter that can be moved from one place to another rather than the big one we have.
Kazim said that since there are industries here in Nigeria that produce plastic we should go into producing this plastic refrigerator rather than importing the conventional one from China and other developed countries since they perform the same functions.
