Return Home, Regent Tells Egi Refugees
Indigenes of Egi communi
ties who fled in the wake of the recent cult crisis in the area have been called upon to return home.
They have been told to return and take advantage of skills acquisition and empowerment programmes being put in place in the area to resettle them.
The Regent of Egi Kingdom in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Eze London Nwaobiyebe made the call during a peace campaign to Erema and the communities in Ahiachu Clan of Egi kingdom.
Eze Nwaobiyebe said that Egi people cannot be refugees in other communities, explaining that his palace was on the verge of setting up peace committees in all communities of the kingdom with a view to bringing the warring parties to the negotiation table.
The Egi Regent said that the palace was partnering with multi-national organisations to design skills acquisition programmes for the youth of the kingdom.
Eze Nwaobiyebe said that, though Egi is blessed with abundant oil and gas resources, the people would only benefit from these potentials when there is peace and stability in Egiland.
“If I allow you destroy your lives who will be the leaders of tomorrow in Egi? I’m calling on all the youth of Egi to stop kidnapping, raping, stealing and come out from the bush.
“Do not allow strangers to come and spoil Egiland, the Regent said.
Eze Nwaobiyebe who is also the Eze Etiti of Egi further called on Governments at all levels to assist the palace in the bid to enthrone lasting peace in Egi kingdom so as to attract multinationals to the area.
The Regent had earlier visited other clans such as Etiti Umu-Obor, Usorzinini as part of the peace campaign.
