Fuel Importers Want FG To Clear Debt
Jetty Owners and Pe
troleum Tank Farm Owners Association of Nigeria, has appealed to the Federal Government to clear the subsidy due to all petroleum products importers to enable them sustain their business.
Executive Secretary of the association, Mr Enoch Kanawa made the appeal in Lagos, in an interview with journalists.
He lamented that for weeks now, tank farm owners had not had petroleum products to distribute and said the situation was frustrating the business of the association’s members.
“This has affected majority of our members because the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), which supplies products to the tank farms had not been paid,” he said.
An official, of DAPPMAN said the association was yet to get subsidy for products imported.
The official who pleaded anonymity, said the 47 members of the association were being owed a total of N47 billion.
He said the interest to be paid on the loans which the members took from the banks to import petrol had risen to N7 billion.
He said that the government had always advocated that there should be a level playing ground where all parties should be treated equally.
He insisted that the association’s members be paid to stop the scarcity of products.
