Rivers CP Tasks Journalists On Effective Coverage
The Rivers State Commis
sioner of Police, CP Tunde Ogunsakin has appealed to journalists in the state to effectively report the activities of the command with all sense of professionalism.
Ogunsakin made this appeal when members of the association of Judiciary Crime Reporters led by its chairman, Deacon Samuel Chinda paid him a courtesy visit in his office, last Friday.
The police commissioner said this had become necessary considering the role of journalists in the society, adding that the media play important role in the development of any society.
He assured to build a strong relationship with members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, adding that he would run an open door administration in the state police command.
Ogunsakin reiterated the command’s readiness to stamp out kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state and assured the people of the state that the command with the support of other security agencies would curtail criminal activities in the State.
He averred that the command in February recorded a huge success in the arrest of armed robbery suspects and recovery of arms, stressing that the command would continue to protect life and property in the state.
The state police commissioner while thanking members of the press corps for the visit assured that the command would issue identity cards to members of the association for easy identification and to enhance their performance in relation with the state command.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the group, Deacon Samuel Chinda, thanked the commissioner for the opportunity given them for the visit and assured him of the support of the members of his association in the discharge of his duties.
