Church’ll Not Surrender To Boko Haram – Primate
As Nigeria marks its 52nd Independence Anniversary as a
nation, the 2012 All Anglican Clergy Conference has re-affirmed its commitment
to seriously contend for the faith reposed on it by the founding fathers, despite
attacks and intimidations by enemies of the church.
The conference which was a convocation of over 7000 Anglican
Archbishops, Bishops and Clergymen held at the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo
last week said the church will not abandon its responsibility despite the
violent pains inflicted on the children of God by enemies of the gospel, the
Boko Haram sect.
Speaking at the conference, the Archbishop metro politician
and primate of the church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the most Reverend
Nicholas D. Okoh said “Satan the devil is fighting against the church of God,
using all sorts of tactics and weapons and his agents of darkness to water down
the gospel and weaken our faith in the Risen Lord.”
Most Reverend Okoh who spoke through the Arch Bishop of
Ibadan Province, Most Rev Akinfenwa described clergymen as the Lord’s army and
the winning team and urged Christians to continue to boldly preach the gospel.
Said he: “stand firm, be resilient, be resolute and truly
committed to God absolutely. Surely, we shall see the salvation of our God. As
we contend earnestly for the faith, our victory is certain.”
The 4-day conference which had “earnestly contending for the
