JTF Deploys Troops To Aba Depot
In a bid to forestall possible oil pipeline vandalism, the Joint Military Taskforce code-named ‘Operation Pulo Shield’, has deployed its troops to the Aba depot recently rehabilitated and commissioned.
Spokesman of the JTF in Rivers State, Capt. Sunny Samuel told The Tide that the move was to prevent possible pipeline vandalism which led to the shut down of the Aba depot for almost a decade.
Capt. Samuel assured that there would be no more destruction of the Aba depot pipeline following the drafting of JTF to the area.
“JTF troops are deployed there to ensure that the pipelines are not vandalised. The security of the pipeline presently is very stiff, strong and robust in the sense that the JTF troops are patrolling the pipeline and with their presence, I am sure that there will be nothing like pipeline vandalism”, he stressed.
He, therefore, called for the cooperation of the residents of Aba in securing the pipeline in their area.
“We expect government to grant us some special amenities and if they allow the pipeline to be vandalised, it definitely will affect all of us, so it’s a community thing, it’s a policing thing, so all of us are involved in the security of those pipelines”.
“They are also encouraged to bring forward information to enable the security agents to work to ensure that nobody tampers with the pipeline”, Samuel said.
