Bayelsa Plans Radio Broadcasting Anniversary

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Strategy and National Orientation, Chief Asara A. Asara has commended the management and staff of the Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation for their high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Chief Asara said this, during the inauguration of the planning committee for the tenth anniversary of the corporation in Yenagoa, the Bayela State capital.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director of Press in the Ministry Mr. Patrick Abbide also lauded staff for quality service delivery within the past ten years despite the numerous challenges they face.
He said Radio Bayelsa has rendered tremendous service which Bayelsans have benefited through its programmes which are aimed at informing, educating and entertaining the listening public.
He also commended the efforts of the present General Manager, Mr. Clinton Thompson whom he described as a core professional for choosing the theme, “Repositioning Radio Bayelsa for service delivery”, describing it as unique and thought provoking.
Chief Asara advised members of the committee to work collectively to achieve desired objectives.
Speaking, the General Manager of the Corporation Mr. Thompson said the committees were put in place to celebrate the journey so far, as away to reinvent new ideas to reposition the station.
Mr. Thompson said the theme “Repositioning Radio Bayelsa for service delivery” is to increase productivity, noting that the anniversary will include the production of an history book of the corporation, recognitions and awards would be given to past General Managers of the corporation and other deserving staff.
He said the anniversary would also create a platform to tell the story and challenges faced by the corporation.
A press release made available to the Tide in Port Harcourt stated that the Director News and Current Affairs of the station, Mr. Stan Opokuma had expressed delight over the idea, stressing that the celebration will be done in a bigger way.
